SSG Spring Meeting
Friday 29 May 2015

Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre

It is a great pleasure to invite members of the Scottish Society of Gastroenterology to Aberdeen for the 2015 Spring Meeting.

One of the themes of the programme is multidisciplinary working.  Aberdeen Royal Infirmary has run a very successful multidisciplinary Chronic Pancreatitis Clinic and Mr Ifran Ahmed and Dr John Leeds will discuss the benefits of a joint approach to patients with this condition.  Similarly, we have a well-established joint Psychiatric and Medical Eating Disorders Service and the presentation by Dr Jane Morris and myself will concentrate on the practical aspects of managing patients with anorexia nervosa on Gastroenterology wards.

Dr Nagi Reddy will present an advanced biliary and pancreatic endoscopy session with a live link to the Asian Institute of Gastroenterology at Hyderabad, India.  Dr Reddy is in huge demand around the world so this is a major coup for the SSG.

Dr Roger Chapman from Oxford is a recognised expert on primary sclerosing cholangitis and Professor Jack Satsangi who is well known to all members in Scotland will update on inflammatory bowel disease from bench to bedside. (Full programme here.)

As usual there will be free paper presentations and the award of the Anne Ferguson prize.  Any papers that we are not able to showcase as oral presentations will be invited as posters and there will be a one-off prize for the best poster which we will present in memory of the late Dr Derek Gillen.

There will be a dinner in the early evening before people travel back from Aberdeen.   The Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre is an excellent venue and we really hope that you will be able to take the time to come to Aberdeen for the meeting.
