About the SSG

The Scottish Society of Gastroenterology evolved from the Caledonian Society in 2001. Its aim is to represent the professions with a primary interest in Gastroenterology including physicians, surgeons, nurses, physiologists and dieticians. The society works to deliver its aims by providing educational opportunities via our meetings, by supporting research and providing a professional voice and opinion to government and the health service.  It also exists for the mutual support of its members, so that they can find advice and support in their endeavours.

We are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. In order to prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect and hold online.

Where is your data stored?

Any data collected through this website for the Scottish Society for Gastroenterology (hereafter SSG) is held at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh through a Microsoft Office 365 system. The SSG is the data controller for any data relating to SSG membership, travel grants, Digest This! and events. If you have any concerns or queries, please contact ssg@societysupport.org or write to Scottish Society of Gastroenterology, 11 Queen Street, Edinburgh, EH2 1JQ in the first instance.

Accessing your data

To make an informal request for any personal information we may hold you should in touch with the SSG administrator at the contact details provided below.

Additionally you can find out which personal information we hold by making a ‘subject access request’ under the GDPR. Where we hold information about you we will provide:

An overview of why we are holding it.

Details of who it could be disclosed to.

A copy of the information in a suitable format within 30 days.

If you agree, we will try to deal with your request informally, for example by providing you with the specific information you need over the telephone.

The SSG do not have any automated system in place which involves decision making and profiling.
